Achieving the perfect finish on stainless steel machined parts can be difficult, but if you do it right you’ll have parts that are as beautiful as they are functional. Here are five simple steps to help guide you through the process.

The Material

Have you ever thought about what goes into making stainless steel? To start, you’ll need iron, oxygen, and carbon—just like all other metals. But what makes it different is its level of purity; because of its high level of purity, most types of stainless steel have special properties that make them useful in certain situations. 316 stainless steel is particularly useful when it comes to manufacturing custom parts or pieces of equipment that require a specific finish or an extreme level of durability. When you choose YIJIN Hardware as your supplier for custom stainless steel parts , you can be confident that we only use 316 stainless steel and are able to deliver high levels quality in our finished products.

The Design & Tooling

The design phase is crucial, and getting it wrong will cost you time and money. At YIJIN Hardware. We start with an accurate model of your part that has been carefully scrutiniz by our team of veteran machinists. The model will be make by CAD/CAM software, ensuring accuracy. And efficient use of expensive machine time. If you have a model already but need help preparing it for CNC machining. Send it over to us–our engineering experts are ready to help! Not sure what kind of part or product you should manufacture? We have years of experience working with clients from all kinds of industries and can offer advice based on our in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process.

Preparing the part surface

Before you can start machining, you’ll want to make sure your part is prepare correctly. As an example, any shiny surface that won’t get machine needs to be clean and degrease thoroughly. You can also remove them before machining if it’s practical for your project—but if there are existing holes or other features in place, you may need to leave them and deal with them later on. For instance, mille slots or V-grooves are very difficult. And expensive to fill. Cutting away pockets in parts is not cost effective at all. The good news is that once your custom stainless steel parts have been produced by  they’re ready for use and require no further processing.

Machine Setup and Operation

The first step in creating custom stainless steel parts is figuring out how to set up your machine. To do so, you’ll need to take into account three main factors: your material. Your desired finish and your cutting tool. While most high-quality finishes require more than one type of finishing tool. You can choose from more than a dozen different kinds of cutting tools and planers. The only catch is that some metals are too soft for certain types of finishing tools; for example, you wouldn’t want to use tungsten carbide or diamond drill bits on titanium or hardened steel because they simply would not stand up well under heavy use.

Visual Inspection and Testing

To inspect and test stainless steel parts. One can use various tools such as magnifying glass, loupe, hand lenses and even microscopes. These are usually use for visual inspection of parts for any flaws that cannot be seen by nake eyes. There are also x-ray inspection equipment which is use to detect internal problems within materials. When it comes to testing stainless steel parts, there are many different ways to do so which include; tensile strength test, hardness test and some other tests depending on what purpose is intended for.
